Love both products, but I’m starting to think @Muse is materially better than Instinct. Like how it pops up a mini browser when it hits something it can’t do. Gives the user back control instead of stalling. Thoughtful, human-centric AI design.

there's a lot of product magic in agents like muse or instinct in making auth into websites work. however, there still seems to be some ways to go given the various login systems you run into (passkeys, OTP via text or email, 2fa, "auth on other device").

What people said back

Replies broadly agreed auth is the last hard mile, with several arguing OTP works and passkeys are unusable in VMs. A few pushed back philosophically: the friction is the trust mechanism, and killing the checkpoint kills the consent.

I thought Instinct was overhyped but it’s kind of addicting to use. Reasons: 1. It’s very fast to respond to texts. 2. I can send voice notes and it’s fast to respond to them too. 3. iMessage interactivity makes it feel even smooth. 4. It’s quite proactive.

What people said back

Mostly converts chiming in with their own reversals, plus a steady drumbeat of invite requests. Dissent came from folks saying Muse is faster, OpenClaw already did this, and one holdout insisting it's still overhyped.

To: weekend agent builders Ready to add agentic payments to your application? If yes, you can integrate Stripe’s @link agent wallet in one-shot. (It’s the same tech that powers Muse, Instinct, Grok Bot, and many more coming soon…) And, it’s free. => t.co/kpwor08UOP

What people said back

Light response, mostly builders. One quote-post flagged the real shift: agents holding their own payment identity moves transaction risk somewhere new.

My fav instinct use case so far: - dryer broke - have warranty Gave instinct the task + photo - found serial/model from email receipt - they only take phone calls but convinced chat to take the case - got it approved - scheduled repair - sent screenshot of approval

It feels kinda insulting to ask Instinct to find me a Muse invite code, but let's see where this goes...

What people said back

The thread immediately turned into a Muse invite marketplace, with strangers brokering codes in DMs and a side trade offering Instinct codes for Muse ones. Someone noted getting past a waitlist may be the real benchmark.

Takes about Instinct/Muse - The fact that it’s through iMessage/Whatsapp, it’s familiar for distribution today but not right. Lacks voice input in the lock screen like Siri, live conversations, richer output formats… - i don’t trust it with sensitive banking info etc - their incentives to monetize these assistants do not align with the user needs. Pushing you to buy stuff, biased recommendations etc - crazy “lack of audibility”. Either they make the agent liable, or it has to be a way to easily trace their actions Building Muse/Instinct into Siri seems to solve it Im curious what you care about?

What people said back

One reply lost patience at the suggestion Siri could fix any of this, and argued a twelve-month-old startup deserves less trust than the giants with fine exposure. Others agreed provenance and inspectable workstreams are the actual prerequisite.

I skip one week of the pod and the crew gets spicier without me. This episode of More or Less: — @davemorin, a man who abandoned his last folding phone, held the iPhone Duo for five minutes and declared it a true primary device and "classic Apple." $2,000 conversion. That fast. — Brit's take on the harness wars: Instinct, Muse, Grokbot, Hermes — all placeholders. "Once Google's drops, it's game over. I'm moving everything to Google." Translation: trust beats product, and Google already has your email so vulnerabilities are pre-paid. Argue with that. — Dave on agents: it's 1982 and the Mac hasn't been invented. ChatGPT at 1B users isn't the breakthrough — the prize is the agent all 6 billion phone users run. Coding agents don't get you there. — Meanwhile Jess deployed two laptops and four browsers to defeat bot detection for tennis tickets, manually, while hosting a podcast about agents. The last human on the internet. Plus: the Valley used to build cool things for the love of it. Now it mostly builds to make money. Discuss.

INSTINCT reminds me OF, when I used to watch DragonBall Z and there was a power level where Goku used to level up his power to - ULTRA INSTINCT and he was in God mode. This instinct is no less. In a single day I have been able to do things with this that were just unimaginable. I'm sorry to say that but people who were asking for paid subscriptions to help find mere flight bookings, sweet redemption spots, this, that, I'm not sure how long they are going to sustain because what Instinct can do,DOING THAT is not even scratching the surface. This is absolutely God.

Instinct is actually great for constant monitoring and timely updates. The only issue: it checks every 5 minutes, while @FinPaal’s system checks much more frequently and pushes updates directly to his WA. Once an update lands there, all the great Kalyan SKUs are usually gone within 2-3 minutes

Stop giving away your data to every hyped AI agent! Seriously, are you really willing to give a new agent access to your email, calendar, contacts, files and credentials just because everyone on X is excited about it? (including destructive permissions!!) I’ve tried to start using Instinct three times already. Every single time I got to the Google Workspace connection, looked at the permissions they were asking for, and stopped. The list is insane. I genuinely don’t understand how people look at that screen and just click “Allow.” And now they released a built-in authenticator, so the agent can also handle authentication codes for you. My reaction was not “wow, that’s cool.” It was: what the hell are we doing? For years we’ve been moving toward least privilege, MFA, separation of duties, limited scopes, short-lived credentials. Then agents came along and somehow we decided that the best way to make them useful is to give them access to EVERYTHING. And the more capable they become, the more access we give them. This is completely backwards. An agent with access to your inbox, files and accounts is not the same as some SaaS app that stores your data. It can read that data, reason about it, combine information from different systems, make decisions and take actions on your behalf. The blast radius is completely different. And no, this isn’t just about Instinct. They are just a very good example of a much bigger problem. The whole industry is racing to build agents that can do everything for us, while barely stopping to question the security model required to make that possible. And users are following the hype and handing over more and more access because the demos are impressive. I want agents that can actually do things for me. That’s exactly why I care about this. But “connect everything and trust the agent” cannot be the security model for the agentic world. Until we solve that properly, maybe stop clicking “Allow” so quickly.

Personal agents texting us to inform us of new things they can do is cool. We saw this during the Agent Village experiment. Once you have people using a personal agent daily, it becomes a very powerful distribution mechanism for information. Especially about new features - it’s immediately in the exact context where that information will be used (Here instinct is telling me that it now has its own email inbox)

I’ve been testing muse, instinct, and grok bot vs codex all week, using identical prompts. Muse and instinct stand out as the best products, they are easy to use, get very far without a ton of handholding, and have the tools I need (often excellent computer/browser use) to accomplish my tasks. But Codex (pro sub using sol usually) often still gets to a better result faster. My guess is it’s paid/expensive model vs free/cheap model. I’d love to pay for instinct or muse to get better/more thinking. Cc/ @dps @kellyschaefer

One very good use for things like Poke or Instinct or Littlebird is entering info into a lot of apps that are kind of personal systems of record. These apps are very useful for fine-tuned record keeping and retrieval but useless at blunt instrument record entry. For instance do a brain dump and then channel the right tasks with deadlines and labels into the right projects in one go. Almost no app does this for you. But agents can. Maybe the point I am making is that the front end for data entry on many apps is shackled by the front end for data retrieval.

I still find quality of output from GPT models and tasks to be much better than any of the assistant tools like Instinct, Grokbot, Poke, etc Why not just set up cloud-based tasks? I have daily emails, sweeps, scheduled runs, etc that all run from the cloud and it’s great t.co/HJIN2rqZt0

I have decided to do this after much deliberation: All local scheduled tasks live in Codex. All cloud tasks I’m porting over to Grok Bot. Makes it a clean split.

Instinct (and other personal agents) are beginning to define a new agent economy that will dramatically reshape how goods and services are transacted. In the economy of the near future, things like credit card rewards will look like bizarre relics of a payment system designed for a different world; not unlike physical trading stamps from a generation ago, where retailers handed customers stamps based on their loyalty and spend and you would mail in a completed book to redeem for appliances/houseware.

Hypothesis: we’re at peak credit-card rewards. As people use personal agents to shop, it’ll change the economics that support them. Credit-card rewards were designed for a world of imperfect human optimization. Optimizers like me know which card to use when, how to maximize

Reflection on Muse & Meta (and I may sold stocks a bit earlier than I should) Ugh, even though I'm bearish on Meta long-term, I should have anticipated that Muse Spark was something Meta was capable of building, and that I should have waited for it to actually launch before selling. My mistakes were as follows: 1- Meta is under strong pressure to produce something that excites the stock price in the AI era. So regardless of how things ultimately turn out, this type of product was bound to launch. 2- Meta's rec systems are very strong, and agent memory/context is fundamentally a rec system problem. 3- Meta now has enough money, compute, and data centers to roll out free VMs and agents at scale to a much larger user base. And Meta built its whole business on the application layer, so its infra should be excellent. It's a reasonable inference that they could conceive of and build an agent that's usable and performant. 4- Meta still has a fairly strong network effect - you can see this from how it cold-started Threads off the back of Instagram. That said, reflection aside, I don't actually have much confidence that Meta can operate the Muse agent well over the long run. I think the personal AI assistant business itself is already highly controversial on ethical and privacy grounds. At the very least, the general public in the US is still quite opposed to consumer-facing AI, and if it's Meta doing it, that could compound the problem even further. That's not to say I trust Instinct (or any competitor) more either - obviously you can't burn cash offering this for free forever. Of course, I myself am still a fairly committed former-Poke, current-Instinct user!
