I did it with Grok Bot. You gotta try Instinct. Send it to your Townie.Put it in Work mode. Give it to Cowork. It’s just Hatch. Tandem can do it. Give it to Juno. Nudge it to Pip. Dude just use Manus. I got a Duggie invite. OpenClaw on a Mac mini can handle it. Crundle is goated.

What people said back

Near-universal recognition, with quote-posters adding their own fake and real agent names to the pile. A few sharper notes: everything is a geek tool, and one plea to please stop.

Instinct + Stripe Instinct users who make purchases spend over $1300/month on average through Instinct. Using Instinct to make high value purchases is a sign of trust that we deeply value. We’re partnering with Stripe to deliver a more seamless payment experience. Instinct has enabled use cases that involve payments including: - Planning and booking international trips - Ordering weekly groceries and household essentials - Booking yoga classes, ski tuning sessions, doctor’s appointments, car part repairs, and more - Getting you the best price for anything you’re looking for

Stripe folks celebrated the fast ship while users asked for spending caps, captcha fixes, UK support, and India payment rails. Skeptics questioned whether $1,300 a month describes anyone outside VC Twitter.

Instinct has been managing my vacation itinerary all week and just convinced a distillery to OPEN 2 HOURS EARLY to give us a private tour and tasting so that we can make our reservations (which it also booked). All without me sending a single email or making a single call. Bullish.

@noahrshinn: I’m Noah, the founder of Instinct. Instinct is a personal agent that we’ve been building for the past few months. The interface is simple: there are no new interfaces. You can text or call it. It's trained to use a phone and a computer in the same way that humans do. Instinct

What people said back

The distillery story landed badly with quote-posters worried about a commons overrun by agents making requests on everyone's behalf. Replies split between tragedy-of-the-commons dread and requests for a referral link.

Apple should just buy Instinct. It’s the right form factor for anything long running you ask Siri. And already iMessage native.

Instinct is an invite-only personal assistant meant to truly understand you and what you’re working on. It has a built-in secrets vault, is very good at using a computer, and can purchase items, all through an interface you already know and love: the Messages app. After months of vague investor posts hyping the product, Instinct recently came out of stealth and announced a round at $2.5 billion, the same valuation as Linear, which has been around for seven times longer.

DAILY SITUATION RECAP: OpenAI and Anthropic do a joint open letter to support cyber defense; plus: Nvidia to acquire Hugging Face, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, Anthropic Model Hardware Standard, “persistent” Codex, and more OpenAI and Anthropic jointly call for collective action on cyber defense along with 100+ other companies including Microsoft, Google, AWS, Broadcom, Citadel, Cognition, Hugging Face, Lovable, Arena, AMD, Visa, Mastercard, and more. OpenAI is building a “persistent” version of Codex with the goal of turning ChatGPT into a proactive, always-on agent that does things for you. Meta (Hatch), SpaceXAI (Grok Bot), and startups (Instinct, Interaction) are working on similar products. This vision has been there since day 0 of ChatGPT. Nvidia will buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. Hugging Face is a platform allowing developers to host model weights, datasets, and AI applications, like GitHub for AI. The acquisition will likely help with Nvidia’s plan to own the open-source AI layer. Google DeepMind releases Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, now the #1 model on Video Arena. New features include extending the video forward or backward 10 seconds at a time, drafting videos in 360p to save compute before doing a full-resolution generation, and upscaling videos up to 4K. Anthropic previews the Model Hardware Standard, a shared specification for AI agents to operate physical devices including microscopes, liquid handlers, robotic arms, and more — basically MCP but for hardware. It is being released in limited preview to a select group of scientific research labs and advanced manufacturers. Cognition reaches $900M ARR, $1.5B projected by end-of-year. Cognition makes the coding agent Devin. Its continued growth is a positive sign for startups amid fears that labs like OpenAI and Anthropic will outcompete them. President Trump’s executive order for an AI regulator stalls. The White House’s framework for pre-deployment testing for frontier models, completed in early August, still has not been publicly released. The Trump administration is considering tariffs on semiconductors, potentially including consumer chips, personal devices, and GPUs, with incentives tied to US chip manufacturing investment.

This week @nvidia didn’t go buy another model lab. They went for @huggingface $13B for the place open models actually live. Same week @nvidia printed $96B and guided +70%. Salesforce moved because enterprises are finally paying. @amazon keeps stacking GPUs. @AnthropicAI locked in massive compute and lined up the IPO. Instinct raised $350M. The money isn’t leaving AI, it’s concentrating into compute, power, distribution, and the layers sitting above all of it. Then you have agents finding each other, sharing information, trying to rewrite logs, coordinating without calling a human. Chips are getting bought. Models are getting cheaper to own. Agents are starting to coordinate. The stack is turning into a network. And the layer that routes the work through that network is becoming one of the most important parts of it. corent

A guy built a site in 3 hours where companies bid for the top spot on a list. It did $236,000 in revenue in week one. And it's one of 8 things that dropped this week most people slept on. Me and @AndrewWarner broke them all down in the video below. Here's what you need to know: 1. Outbid lets companies pay to outrank each other on one public list. Top bid so far is $17,000. Three hours to build, $236,000 in week one, maybe $50 in expenses. 2. Hugging Face shipped Micro Duck, a $399 programmable robot. It does tricks and rides skateboards, and you do not need to be a developer. Cheap AI hardware is officially here. 3. Bezalel by @rasmic is one MCP that gives your agent memory, email, money, texting, a computer and sandboxes. Free alpha right now. Think Composio for agent infrastructure. 4. Instinct connects your agent to your texts, WhatsApp, calls and email. One user disconnected at 11am and still got an email summary at 2pm. Anonymous founders, multi billion dollar valuation. Read that twice. 5. Supernova pulls every business tool into one data lake your agent queries over MCP. No more hitting one tool at a time. Pricing page is unreadable, which will cost them signups. 6. Expertise is a marketplace for buying and selling skills. Sellers are charging $80 to $99 a month per skill. Skills are quietly becoming SaaS. 7. X1 builds your iPhone app and walks it through Apple's publishing gauntlet. $8/mo for one app. Lovable will not touch iOS, so it's this or Replit. 8. @petergyang open sourced a skill that turns your agent into a cancer patient advocate. Plain English medical terms, care log, what to ask next. 100k+ views. The 2 shifts that matter most: 1. Skills are turning into software you can charge for. Sellers are getting $99 a month for one workflow. Package the thing you already do best and put a price on it. 2. Stop renting software you can clone. Andrew handed Claude the markup tool he was paying for, told it what he hated, and got a better version built for him. Do that with every subscription you resent. We covered all 8 (plus the autocomplete for piano and the vibe coded gas station game headed to Steam) on this week's News You Missed. Full video below.

Friday Night Bloomberg Lights 'May the ClaudeForce be with you' The September wall of worry is getting taller. Investors sound increasingly frustrated. I am too. I would love nothing more than to panic sell, but I’m (bag) holding on because I increasingly think the worst is behind us. I was wrong about how some of this week would play out. PCE was indeed in line, leather jacket man delivered, but no S1, software actually worked, and we have a Warsh-Hawk on our hands. Call it 2 for 5. My motto for next week is ‘get through it’. Month-end flows finish and we get the last batch of software eps. Given the look of the short momentum charts I posted earlier, we might actually be close to the ‘Unwind of the Unwind’. The software stocks and their valuations have round-tripped. And this is all on the heels of the Jalapeno news, which in my opinion is a stark reminder of market wide terminal value risk. What OAI was able to do with the help of their own models is extremely impressive and it’s hard not to wonder ‘what’s next?’. Anyway, if you’re reading this from the short momentum mountain, I promise the view from the top isn’t worth the fall down (scars to prove it). Then we get tech conferences (so the goldfish can learn again AI is booming) and NFP / CPI, which should largely determine the Fed setup. If both are in line, I suspect the market will price the hike. That would make the meeting itself a useful clearing event, perhaps just in time for the Anthro show. And so what about that? Well, it would be naive to expect them to come public with bad juju. New models and ARR updates are potentially on the menu. There is also of course a more cynical possibility. Maybe Anthropic knew exactly what it was doing with the ARR number switcheroo (28 day annualized, is meta in the #? Etc etc). Alt-data providers had HF and Fintwit all hopped up, and then suddenly comes a new lower number to argue about heading into the roadshow. Was that good optics management or just how things went? We’ll never know. But if you wanted to reset the bar before an IPO kicks off, you could do worse… Meanwhile, the broader demand signal across the labs does not look like it is rolling over. OAI’s August update KPIs being the main example. Revenue just remains compute gated (the hyperscalers told you this very clearly). This brings me to a very important and likely future debate. How much compute will the labs allocate to chase AGI instead of (short-term) ROI? The messaging in my network is that they both believe they are on the verge of a major self-recursive step up, making research compute the priority. I don’t know how the street will respond to this but my best guess is some near term products, like persistent agents, could earn the labs the right to do it in the minds of investors. On the latter point, the arrival of Instinct, GrokBot, and new features in GPT Work all at the same time is a bit fortuitous. Ahead of the ANT IPO, the consumer gets a more intuitive and useful product to experience the magic the technical among us have been feeling for months. Side note: the product right now is “just coding” take really annoys me, since it comes mostly from people who 1) haven’t used it to code, and 2) whose professional existence sits entirely downstream from coding as they type on their Bloomberg and Excel sheets… While I feel more every day that I’m trading against SkyNet, if I step back and think about what we’ve learned this summer, it’s that the AI train is on the tracks and very likely speeding up. Stocks can have a “messy middle” of course but eventually the dollars will follow revisions, and if Jensen taught us anything this week, it’s that the bean counters are probably too conservative. Get some rest.

Agents can already shop, but the e-commerce was never built for them. Tried sending a friend flowers with Instinct. It selected the right bouquet, logged in using my OTP, added her address, and built the cart. While it got to the final step, it could not complete the transaction: Two things broke: 1. Checkout - Browse is open. Pay still wants a human. The website had a blocker for traditional bots, which prevented the agent from going through. 2. Geography - I am in India. It kept showing me dollars. A local IP will be needed to make it seamless. We will get native agents. We do not yet have a native web for them.

seems Instinct's next move is to enable 24/7 screen + audio capture the funny thing is that you entirely own this data and with truly personalized intelligence, only you can be its best benchmark. you decide whether the agent understands you, whether its judgment feels right, and what you’re comfortable letting it do this creates an interesting moat problem: if I can own the data, define the evals, and build my own harness around a frontier model, what exactly compounds for Instinct? perhaps the appeal will largely be for non-technical folks who don’t want to have to go through setting up the data pipelines and continual learning loops, or maybe the harness and way they store memory can't be easily replicated

Will Instinct et al accelerate GDP growth?  Credit cards increased consumption by disassociating people from physically parting ways with their savings.  Consumer AI agents further disassociate from cards by auto recommending and purchasing products/experiences, and thus will drive the creation and consumption of more products.

A 23-year-old just raised $350M for an AI assistant, and the most interesting part is what broke. Instinct's backlash wasn't about capability. Users loved the completed tasks. It was about unconfirmed actions and data the agent kept that users didn't know about. That failure mode is an engineering choice, not an inevitability. At @usealmanac we made the opposite choices early: Context comes from systems of record Gmail, Slack, Notion not screen capture. Every proactive action traces to a real trigger you can inspect. Memory is shared across your team and your other agents, so nothing lives in a black box only the model can see. Consumer agents get to move fast and apologise. Company agents don't one wrong autonomous email and you've lost the whole org's trust. I learned that the expensive way; it's why we built the audit trail before we built the magic. Instinct proved people will pay for agents that act first. We're proving companies will trust one.

kushagra chitkara

Instinct raised $350M this week. It also spent the week in a privacy backlash: screen access, data retention, actions users didn't confirm. Both things are true, and both matter. The demand signal is undeniable: people want an agent that acts first. The backlash signal is just as clear: nobody wants an agent that watches everything to do it. This is the exact design problem we've been living inside at Almanac. Our answer: the agent doesn't watch your screen. It builds context from where work already lives Gmail, Slack, Notion and acts on real triggers: a meeting on the calendar, a renewal date, an email that arrived. When it texts you, the draft is already done. Not because it was spying. Because it already knew. Proactive without surveillance isn't a compliance checkbox. It's the whole architecture. The market just proved the demand at $2.5B. The trust layer is still up for grabs. That's what we're building.
