The Agent Grabbed The One-Time Code And Nobody Said Yes
A day of two moods: wives having "wow" moments over iMessage, and infrastructure people pointing out that pulling an OTP out of your inbox to log into Resy is not the same as being allowed to. Both camps are right.
What people were saying
The day split neatly into two conversations that never quite met. On one side, people whose lives got measurably easier. On the other, people asking who exactly authorized that.
The authorization argument came from @BoBrainerd, quoting a user whose booking attempt failed, then succeeded overnight because the agent found a signup code in Gmail and logged into Resy on its own. His point: "can do it" and "is allowed to do it" are different things, and the industry keeps collapsing them because the demo works. He was not gentle about it.
The praise
@kevinleeme had the most quietly devastating product insight of the day: his designer wife ignored the Mac mini OpenClaw setup and the Claude Code Telegram channel, then had multiple "wow" moments once the same capability arrived via iMessage. Distribution, apparently, is a text thread. @lillyemira listed food, travel, restaurants, payments, coding, and phone calls, and @brunokoba_ landed on the thesis: no app, no setup, no model picker, it just goes.
The anecdote of the day belongs to @charlieleg, who got his Model Y insurance re-shopped for about $30/mo less, including the part where he and his dad share a name and his dad's speeding ticket was polluting his quote (the agent found the old MVR buried in an email thread and had it attached and ready). Also: a Lehi power outage lookup, and a proactive nudge to move up his 6pm Great Clips queue slot so he wouldn't be trapped by the blackout. He also gave it credentials for a points agent and let it book award flights to Dallas.
@MishraJay wrote the most careful post: he runs his own family agent, migrated off OpenClaw for maintenance and reliability reasons, and found Instinct's task-adjacent approach better than his own cron jobs. He also called it overeager (it enthusiastically triaged a junk inbox he'd handed it as a test) and told people to actually read the terms before connecting anything.
The pushback
Beyond the OTP thread, @pingpdg ranked it a close second to Grok bot for deeper work. @Shubham13743788 noted the launch had no video, no feature page, and no visible team, just a waitlist and VCs asking strangers for invites, which is a marketing strategy where everyone else does the marketing. @GordonGekko420 was, predictably, one of those strangers.
