Instinct, on X

Fleeb Fatigue, Meta's Free Distribution, and One $2,177 Refund

A day of refunds and Barry's bookings on one side, and on the other: a $10B valuation nobody can explain, a promo text that broke somebody's heart, and a parody post about agents named Fleeb.

What people were saying

The dominant frame today was comparison. @jukan05 noted how fast things moved from OpenClaw to Muse and Instinct, then mentioned a rumor about Meta renting a lot of virtual machines, at which point the entire replies section stopped talking about assistants and started talking about CPU demand and semiconductor tickers. @Zagabond argued the feature race (phone calls, etc.) is a sideshow and the endgame is a physical device. @FredaDuan made the sharper structural point: chat could bundle work and personal, but agents split along identity, permissions, and risk, and she's hearing people use one agent for work and Instinct for personal life.

And then there was @james406, whose parody of agent-discourse (you have to sign up for Fleeb, Fleeb is raising at $100B, Fleeb has shut down and migrated everyone to Flobe) was the day's most-liked piece of commentary, which tells you something about the ambient mood.

The praise

The receipts were good. @brettdash_ got $2,177 back from British Airways after a cancellation, receipts and statements and all, and framed it as agents lowering the cost of taking action. @kingofknowwhere had it chase an uncredited Amazon refund through a bank and several human support reps to resolution. @carolinedclark had a Barry's class booked off her calendar, switched from floor to treadmill (remembered as a preference), and got talked into a party it found a Luma invite for. @dalibali2 found a genuinely clever one: free in-flight messaging becomes free in-flight search.

The pushback

@lessin went after the $10B raise two weeks post-launch on roughly 100k users ("everyone's trading, no one's investing"), and @jonathanzliu put it more bluntly as a VC pump and dump. @harsh_dwivedi7 reached for the Clubhouse and Airchat comparison on invite mechanics. @VadimStrizheus posted a Meta pop-up and argued zero-CAC distribution across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook is unbeatable.

Product complaints were real too. @NishantPandita2 said it dropped the session after booking a ride and took longer to reply than the ice cream took to arrive. @ayushsood worried about Gmail as the master threat vector. And @AllenWangzian got a generic promo text mid-conversation, which broke the illusion of personal instantly (it didn't use his name, which somehow made it worse).

Notable anecdotes

@MaxHirsch13 shipped an iMessage-native gym coach, prompting a reply that there must be ten thousand of these being built right now. @DavidPawlan walked Manhattan tip to tip with both Instinct and Muse as tour guides and concluded neither is ready (checking your phone constantly is not "being present"). @dkwon98 reported his mom now sends him motivational AI slop about the founder being younger than him.
