Instinct is in talks to raise about $1 billion at a roughly $10 billion valuation, less than a month after raising $250 million at a $2.25 billion pre-money valuation. The 23-year-old founder Noah Shinn is building a personal AI agent that can operate software and complete tasks like answering emails, negotiating bills and booking reservations. Instinct now has more than 100,000 users and has already run into compute capacity constraints as demand grows. Its valuation has gone from roughly $50 million in the spring to $10 billion under discussion today. Source: The Information

What people said back

The replies were a wall of bubble jokes, Snapchat-versus-Instinct valuation math, and predictions that Meta or OpenAI simply ships this. A steady minority insisted the product genuinely works and that the TAM skeptics are the ones misreading the moment.

Anyone saying Instinct is the next Clubhouse has never really used Instinct.

What people said back

Defenders argued Clubhouse was a social product needing network effects while this is single-player and transactional. Detractors offered bets that it's dead or acquired within a year, and several said Muse has already overtaken it.

my bet: personal AI assistants (aka Instinct) will eclipse the ChatGPT market Why? - my sister, mom and dad are now using it over Claude/ChatGPT - I had it rebuild a squarespace site I made years ago for a local restaurant. now the owner can just email instinct for any website updates & it's hosted free on cloudflare - instinct is fully managing my FB marketplace listings - booked multiple CPA meetings for my acquisition - fully managing my fantasy football team (2nd place rn) - signs me up for trials & auto cancels the day before - found reoccurring subscriptions and cancelled them all of which it did with minimal intervention. few of which ChatGPT/Claude could do sufficiently.

What people said back

Plenty of agreement on the thesis, plus accusations that the post was paid promotion, one report of Facebook throwing a human-verification check at it, and a reply gently mocking the fantasy football victory lap after one week.

I've been aggressively trying out Instinct/Muse/Grok bot over the last few days for everything from 1. passenger started bleeding all over my alaska flight, plane turned around, please get me flight refund 2. OBSESSIVELY track my new bag from italy so that the second it is delivered I can grab it 3. i really want to get a reservation at [redacted] but after years of manual checking I have given up. please check and get it for me (I now have a res for tonight) But the only thing that drives me nuts is how long all of them take. @Muse has been the winner though, consistently 2-3x faster on the same tasks. But still > 5 minutes for simple asks :/

I will say, I think Instinct has all the makings of a perfect Google acquisition target. Gives me strong YouTube vibes. PMF, but product is borderline unusable because of infrastructure / compute bottlenecks. Plug this thing into Google's scalable backend (imagine sub 30ms latency) and give it native access to GSuite + Android + Google ecosystem writ large + search data and watch it shoot into outer space.

Instinct $10B round giving 2021 Clubhouse vibes right now - Great usage and growth - No monetization yet - Fast follow competition from incumbents Will be interested to see how this evolves

2026 has been an insane year so far... OpenClaw really was the product of the year, even though most people have since migrated away from it. OpenClaw was the first viral product that gave an agent free rein over a computer. Since then, we've seen all types of "general agent platforms" launch, each operating slightly differently. Each lets you interact with an agent that can access your apps (plugins), run tasks automatically (routines/crons), and most importantly, use a computer. That computer is either in the cloud or it's your own... And some of these platforms let you connect agents to apps you already use, like iMessage, Slack, Telegram, email, and more. Some are included in your subsidized subscription (Codex and Claude). Some give you access to all the models (Hermes and Viktor). And some give you no choice of model (Instinct). But they all have one thing in common: once you make one your main setup, switching costs get high. Especially in business. For this reason I have trust issues, when trying these new platforms. However, to develop instincts on the agent space as a whole, I think experimentation is essential. I've used all of these products, trying to figure out what I like and don't like about all these tools, and where I think this is all going. But that will likely be an article on @agentnative_ next week. But before I write it I want to ask you... where is this all going? What do you think the winning agent platforms in 2027 will look like?

Want to try a personal AI assistant, preferably on Whatsapp. Something both my wife and I can use. I want to choose one and stick with it (at least for a year), instead of hopping around. Should I try A) Instinct (good & free, but not sure what future pricing is) B) Town (how good is it?) C) Muse (from Meta, so Whatsapp will always be there; but will it work with gmail, google sheets, etc?) Would love to hear your opinions on these 3 options. PS: I don't want to build my own open source one with Hermes/OpenClaw. Made one for my writing as a 2nd brain but too much effort.

The craziest thing I asked Instinct AI to do is get me a visa for Bali. I was in Copenhagen and headed to Bali for 3 weeks. I texted Instinct: "Can you please sort out my Bali visa?" The arrival card asks for each country you were in during the last 3 months. Instinct read my emails and Airbnb receipts and made the list. Then it asked, "Did I miss anything?" It had all of them. I sent a photo of my passport and a photo of me. It sent back my visa on arrival as a PDF. Bali immigration is strict. If one detail is wrong, they can deport you fast. And if Instinct made the mistake, I had no one else to blame. I put all my trust in Instinct. At the gate, I scanned my passport and sweated a little. The gate opened.

Got my hands on Muse, and these are my initial observations: For browser-based tasks, Muse outperforms Instinct by miles, especially when it comes to running complex, multi-step tasks. Instinct, however, still feels like the better overall “assistant” to me. It seems more geared towards real-world, day-to-day use cases. Another really interesting part of Muse is its connectors. Within no time, I was able to connect Muse with my Hermes agent running on my private Tailscale network, which suddenly opened up a LOT more use cases for me. You can technically achieve something similar with Instinct too, but it’s nowhere near as straightforward as it is with Muse. As of now, I’m genuinely loving Muse. Hope they officially launch in India soon! One interesting difference though: unlike Instinct, Muse doesn’t let you store cards in its vault, which might actually be a good thing Payments through Muse currently seem to be handled via Stripe, and I’m only able to use US cards there. For India, the workaround is basically a one-time virtual card through chat or UPI. I’d expect this limitation to go away once Muse officially expands to India and other regions. Still experimenting, but Muse + Hermes + Tailscale is where things are starting to get really interesting

I’m probably going to look stupid saying this but watching personal AI agents roll out feels like pure déjà vu from the LLM wars in 2023 and people are reading the room completely wrong imo Taste wins over raw horsepower. Everyone thought one model would eat the world, but people actually picked their daily driver based on vibes and nuance. Personal AI agents will fracture the exact same way: as a power user here is my take • Instinct is like Claude: sharp, candid, a bit nerdy, feels like talking to someone with genuine taste. > Muse is like ChatGPT, it wins mainstream purely because it sits inside the apps everyone already uses 24/7 (IG, FB, WhatsApp). > Bot is like Codex, headless, invisible, just does the grunt work without talking back. Consumers genuinely want choice. Your personal agent is going to know your life, your habits, your voice. Nobody wants a sterile, generic monopoly running their day-to-day. You’re going to pick the agent whose personality you can actually tolerate having in your ear all day. We’re still wildly underestimating the TAM. Skeptics keep pricing this like consumer software subscriptions ($20/mo apps). That’s insane. If your personal AI agents make you $1k per month (which isn’t impossible), why wouldn’t you pay $100? Together revenue of Anthropic, open ai and cursor is near $90b ARR today and these agents have the potential to be bigger than them If LLMs commoditized answers, personal agents commoditize action- running your schedule, filtering your life, executing transactions, taking the friction out of existing. This isn’t a $500B software market. When an agent acts as your personal proxy for life and work, the TAM is possibly $5 trillion

@thisiskp_: If you think we are in a bubble You are underestimating the TAM of personal AI agents in this decade There is space for multiple winners and the race just began https://t.co/GuiH52Bzi9

Genuine Q: If you're using Instinct, Muse, or other agentic services to help handle sensitive information, or log in to services to get work done on your behalf... how have those platforms earned your trust? To the point where you're okay with them keeping your PWs? I am still hesitant to go this far, but admit that I'm a bit ignorant and generally avoidant when it comes to handing over the keys. Can someone explain or link me to the security protocols or measures that would/should make me more comfortable with this?

Been using Instinct and @catchagent for the past few days. I've been hooked on Instinct and first did not understand why I need to pay for an Agent. Especially since Instinct has wowed me last two weeks. However, yesterday it failed me. Super unreliable execution. Events and emails I asked it to send were not delivered and queued for up to 3-5 hours. That's the kind of behavior that is unacceptable from your personal agent. Now it's clear to me that while Instinct is a great product, It's like being on a shared computer while Catch Agent give you, your dedicated compute. If I could pay for Instinct and get live support + guaranteed execution, I'd do it. But I can't. I am pretty reluctant to build my whole personal and business ops life around an Agent that will likely slow down when everyone' using it at the same time. I'll be looking to switch more and more to Catch. Both are great and differing in how they work with you. But the fact I can rely on it to be accurate and on time is a feature that I'm not going to negotiate on.

Instinct AI booked me haircut appointment I wanted a wavy perm in Copenhagen. My agent found salons, read the reviews, and sent me photos. I chose one. The booking step needed a Danish phone number. The agent sent an email to the salon instead. A few hours later, it sent me a message: "confirmed, you're booked." I read the email later. It sounded "very, very human." I think that the salon did not know an AI agent wrote it. Give the agent the job, and then put your phone away.

Tried Instinct today. For those who don't know, it's an AI agent you can chat with through WhatsApp or iMessage. It acts as a personal assistant and even a concierge. I managed to book a service for my washing machine just by giving it a few instructions. It handled almost everything on its own, without any human intervention. PS: The time difference is because I didn’t have a MyBosch account, so it had to create one first.

Recent moments AI was more annoying than helpful: - Instinct sending me a captcha code to do myself - Grok Bot taking way too long to do something seemingly simple (20 mins to look up some flights) - Hermes got setup to make phone calls with Retell and completely failed by confusing a japanese retail store staff further by asking her why she called lol - Instinct being overly aggressive with scanning my emails unprompted - Grok Bot unable to self install Retell and Twilio, Instinct got farther here but… - Instinct setting up accounts for me then me having to manually reset the password myself + add it into the vault when it can’t get past verification - putting all three (Hermes, Grok Bot, Instinct) into a slack channel and then redoing my calendar events because they got mixed up on timezones - Instinct being over confident in it’s answers when all it did was stop at the first listicle on top of google and gave me the first choice as “best” Today is the worst AI will ever be. I’ve been pushing the limits on experimentation across different models and harnesses daily. It’s a glimpse into what will be possible but there’s still wide gaps for it to be a full on VA or executive assistant

mentioning instinct is engagement bait, at this point drop the word, attach a cropped whatsapp screenshot of it doing some errand (booking a thing, chasing a refund, filling a form etc.) or say "i've 15 invites, hmu if you want one" we know the agent works. the use-case era lasted abt 9 or so days. we're in the late-stage farming era now.

Obviously the regulatory backdrop is very different post ATT esp wrt self-preferencing, but still hard to believe AAPL will just let a competing AI agent sit on top of iOS w/o trying to protect Siri/system layer So w/ Muse, what stops AAPL trying to throttle META again -- prob need M&A ie Instinct? idk

Instinct just announced that they’re looking to raise at a $10B valuation. which means VCs are FOMO’ing to invest into personal AI agents. this is the perfect time for someone to raise capital and build the infra layer that lets neobanks embed these agents directly into their products. an Instinct/GrokBot/Muse style product that gives banking apps access to AI agents that can: > order my usual Uber Eats for pickup > pay my medical bill > book me the cheapest flight to Miami > find and cancel subscriptions I don’t use > dispute this charge for me every neobank is rushing to integrate AI in some capacity, but almost none of them are going to keep up with how quickly the tech is advancing while also running a fintech/payments company. that creates a pretty obvious opportunity for an infra player to build the agent layer and sell it across the entire neobank ecosystem.

AI AGENT STARTUP INSTINCT IN TALKS TO RAISE $1B AT $10B VALUATION Instinct is discussing a new $1 billion funding round at a roughly $10 billion valuation, less than a month after raising $250 million at a $2.25 billion pre-money valuation. The startup, led by 23-year-old Noah Shinn, builds a personal AI assistant that can operate software and complete tasks such as answering emails, negotiating bills and booking reservations. Instinct has grown to more than 100,000 users and is already facing compute capacity constraints as usage increases. Source: The Information

The AI personal assistant space is exploding. Grok Bot, Town, Instinct, Muse, and new entrants joining almost daily. Apple, Google, Amazon and Snapchat haven't launched theirs yet, and that won't last long. What makes them work is the harness underneath, not the product wrapper. File system based, improves through recursive self-learning, writes new skills and runs them on the fly. We took that same class of agent and brought it to the enterprise, with real access controls on models, data and tools. Lyzr Open Cowork runs locally, on frontier or open-weight models, built on our open-source agent harness

I'm short $EXPE at $294 from yesterday near close. Simple thesis. AI personal assistant agents like Instinct and Muse are becoming increasingly adept at scheduling and managing full end-to-end travel itineraries with budget, loyalty programs, times, transit all accounted for. I'm using these agent assistants daily now and seeing it first hand. The headlines are picking up about these assistants as well, with Instinct raising at a $10B valuation, which is a 5x step up from last month. I believe AI assistants will seriously disrupt the moat of these types of companies.

This was a thought-provoking list for me! A few I would add that we're thinking about: - How is context nurtured or developed over time? Two differing approaches across known context (voice interviews / deep research) or through conversation - Geographic constraints of the current paradigm. Similar to the Uber / Grab / Bolt era there are country-specific companies and opportunities - Given the wide variety of agentic tasks, what does an agent orchestrator look and feel like? That is, a place to manage my Muse / Instinct / Soar / Town etc. that could exist outside of messaging - How do current companies adapt to the agentic paradigm through form factor, monetization, and more? A la Salesforce abstracting away UI or Strava / Oura being a store of data to call to or otherwise

Had many conversations this weekend re instinct / muse / consumer agents, key topics: - Commerce is the obvious opportunity but unclear how to handle supply constrained markets (hot restaurant tables) vs demand constrained (people that need to fly to San Francisco tomorrow);

AI Assistants need an aggregator layer because at this point in time their services are very piecemeal. Each agent is best at searching its own platform, but needs integrations to access other ones. @bot has the most connectors available - but to connect to X it requires my full account access to post and delete things, and there’s no toggle for read only @Muse can search through Insta and Facebook but is a tad more limited compared to Grok Bot @Apple will likely acquire or build their own version so your assistant can message people for you - given Instinct can’t message your contacts, only other Instinct agents

What people miss about Instinct is that investors aren’t asking “is this company worth $10B today?” Assume for a moment $1.35B total capital invested with 1x liq pref. The company only needs to exit for ~$1.35B for the preferred investors collectively to get their capital back. Common gets wiped out, but the investors don’t. Getting money back would not be a good outcome. But after several more years of building, is Instinct likely to be worth more than $1.35B to somebody? I’d say yes. Is there a meaningful chance it’s worth several times that? Yes. And is there a small chance a personal agent becomes an enormously valuable consumer platform and it’s worth $50B, $100B+? Yes. That right tail is what they’re buying. Benchmark just raised a $1.25B growth fund. If, say, it put $250M into this round, a 3x outcome would return $750M. 60% of the entire fund from one investment. A 5x would return the whole fund.

i keep coming back to whether people will actually want wearable device for this or they would prefer an assistant on their phone like muse or instinct. to me, the strongest argument for a wearable is context. it could pick up on cues in your daily life, that you would never even think about telling an agent. but how often is that something actually useful that justifies wearing another band everyday. if i want an agent to build me a content studio, i want to see the ideas and tell it what to change so i'll already have my device out. a wearable might give an agent more context about my day, but i'm wondering how relevant this context it needs for the work i actually want it to do.

Reading The Power Law by @scmallaby and got to the section on Benchmark's and @bgurley's love of network effect businesses. The OpenTable story is a great illustration of the dynamic. This got me thinking about why there appear to be so few of these businesses in AI. Most AI apps are single-player atm, and you don't get a network effect unless one user being there makes the product more valuable for the next one. Some are starting to emerge though. A few places I see network effects in AI: - Personal AI Assistants: Instinct just shipped agent-to-agent coordination. Your AI works directly with other people's AIs to get shared things done behind the scenes (coordinate plans, calendar scheduling, etc.). Classic network effect: more people on Instinct, better coordination, more people. This could still work with outside agents in plain english the way two human assistants would coordinate (or via a standardized protocol adopted by other personal AI assistant companies), but two Instincts see each other's calendars, known preferences, and permissions directly and settle it in one pass (perhaps in their own AI language in the future!). @benchmark co-led their series b, so maybe this isn't a coincidence. - Usage feedback: My corrections today improve the model that answers your questions later. The app sees more of that than the model does, since it also sees what you did with the output. -Mercor and Handshake are classic two-sided networks. More vetted experts attract more demand from labs for expert-labeled data, which attracts more experts

Been using grok bot for about 1 month and it's the biggest step up I've seen in a very long while. Just surreal the kind of things you can do pretty much with little to no tokens and your productivity just explodes. The subscription at $90/month is as cheap as buying a dollar for a penny can get. Seeing meta release muse though, is kind of another thing. I really think $META (and maybe $GOOG) can eat $MSFT alive. Meta specially has been building massive capacity and ppl seem still a bit sleep at the wheel. But the one thing meta has no other company on earth (aside from google) has is the ability to distribute things like grok bot to everybody on earth instantly. No need to install grok bot, Instinct... forget about it, just open whatsapp and everybody on earth starts using the thing. As we enter the agentic AI era, distribution and GW capacity are 2 of the most important things to have. And just so happens... meta has both!! Plus great optionality on how to monetize AI. Google has also a very good chance at this, and amazon potentially as well (both with their own custom ASICs + lots of use cases to boost current earnings via AI) but need to catch up. As for meta time has come, let's do this Zuck, let's put $MSFT and everybody else on the dancing floor.
